Not into morning meditation, journaling or affirmation cards?

Me neither.

I’m a sunsets over sunrise kind of gal.

Doesn’t mean I don’t dig a good motivational page-turner though.

I love, love, LOVE motivational books penned by sassy, funny, smart women doing great things. Okay, yes, and some men, but let’s be honest, they don’t impress me as much, #SorryNotSorry

I’ve always been an avid reader, obsessed with books since I can remember. My dream home (aka Pinterest board) has a library in it, stacked with books. I’m talking wall to wall, roof to floor, with a ladder built into the shelving that slides from side to side. So, yeah I guess you could say the obsession is real.

Anyway, enough about my dream home. I know you’re probably dying to know what my fave genre is right?

These days is most definitely the anti-self help, self help books.

Ya feel me? The ones that light a fire in your soul, speak to you on a deep level, give you the courage to grab life by the horns and JUST DO IT.

Because it can be confusing to find the right body of works that speak to our sassy selves, and because I love you guys, I’m sharing my all time fave books that I keep within reach for when I need a shot of inspiration or kick up the ass.

Introducing the JAG Approved Book List:

Easily my pick for ‘Book of the Year’.

Buy this and become a Cheetah.

IFKYK.

This was the book that pushed me to finally launch Just Another Girl.

I’ve been a big fan of Ash for years, and knew I’d love this book. THIS is the book for all bad girls. TRUST ME.

Fantastic read on how to harness your creative powers.

There are some excellent takeaways in this book, including how creative ideas can come to you and if you don’t act, they will simply find another host. Brilliant stuff.

Marie is SUCH a vibe.

I saw her speak at Business Chicks event last year, and I instantly was hooked on everything she had to say. Inspirational read, packed full of proactive tips and tricks.

This is a goodie if you are constantly spreading yourself too thin.

Learn to be okay with not giving a fuck about EVERYTHING. Very easy read, and actually full of common sense.

Had to include the legendary Emma Isaacs onto this list.

Founder of Business Chicks, Emma shares her journey, including all the ups and downs. It’s a very raw and honest look at what it takes to become an ‘overnight success’.

Your future self will thank you for this book!

Lorraine was my very first mentor, and I simply adore this woman. She’s an Irish force of nature, and offers perhaps THE most practical advice around organisational tips. She introduced me to the concept of ‘Future Self’, which is worth its weight in gold let me tell you.
